A classically trained and very experienced singer, Haimanti Shukla has a solid reputation in Bengal. Her repertoire is also vast. She is also a very popular concert singer and travels abroad frequently. Has excellent voice and can tackle any song.

 

Haimanti Shukla is famous for her melodious songs, her sweet voice and her sociable nature. Born on 2nd February, 1949 and trained under her father Late Pandit Harihar Shukla, she has successfully carved a niche of her in the world of music.

 

Over thousands of songs and about 50 released music albums to her credit, Shukla has sung in languages like Bengali, Hindi and Oriya. Shukla is a musically known and well-accepted face among the musical fraternity of Kolkata and India.

 

Her first recording, “E to kanna noy aamar” in 1972 with lyricist and musician Shailen Mukhopadhyay and Pulak Bandhopadhyay brought her into the limelight. Along with Bengali films she has also done playback for a couple of Hindi movies as well.

 

Initially she got her talim from her father Late Pandit Harihar Shukla. However, close association with muscical personas like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Ustad Allah Rakha Khan, Naushad, Hemanta Mukherjee, Manna Dey, Salil Chaudhuri and many more, helped her a lot to gain more knowledge.
