Banasree
Sengupta holds her accomplished charm in spite of what age has taken
away. Her best album is “
Godhulir Aalo “ by Prime Music . The
songs in this album are well-composed. She sings eight songs here
and some are worth special mention. Tomar kotha bhebe bhebe
(lyric: Sribarun, music: Soumitra Chatterjee), the first
number in this album, is a soft, romantic one; Rang laage
(lyric: Biswajit Mukherjee, music: Banikantha) moves on to a faster
rhythmic track; Fagun kano jalaye (lyric: Sribarun, music:
Kundan Saha) has a slightly sombre note.
There are a
couple of songs that fall short in comparison. The last song
of Side B, Chandmama chupi chupi, is written and set to music
by Arindam Ganguly. The song is reminiscent of the our age-old
Bengali lullabies and nursery rhymes, Chandmama chandmama tip
diye ja and Khoka ghumolo para jurolo.
